Overview
We are the Hoffman Estates Garden Club (HEGC), working to promote interest in gardening and expand our gardening knowledge.  We’ve been in existence since the 1980’s but our history can be traced back to the 1950’s.  Our members’ gardening skills range from beginner to Master Gardener and we love to share those skills. Our members come from the northwest suburbs of Chicago including Elgin, Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, Huntley, Inverness, Medinah, Niles, Roselle, Schaumburg, South Barrington, Streamwood and Westmont.

Meetings
We meet the first Thursday of the month (excluding January and July) at the Township of Schaumburg, One Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates, IL 60169 at 6:00 p.m.  Monthly programs, presented by experts or our members, include topics on dahlias, roses, plant and tree selection, pruning and maintenance, flower arranging, seed starting, and Fairy Gardens.  Occasionally, a plant exchange, field trip, garden walk, or party is included.  Check out our Events page for upcoming programs that might be of interest.  Visitors are always welcome!

Community Outreach
Reaching beyond our own personal gardens, the Hoffman Estates Garden Club provides services  to our local communities by:

  • Harvesting vegetables for local food pantries grown in our Giving Garden and donating them to local food pantries.  We’ve donated over one ton of vegetables.
  • Participating in a school garden program in conjunction with School District 54.  The purpose is to encourage and support student interest in gardening.
  • Making community gardening presentations for the Village of Hoffman Estates.
  • Participating in the annual Schaumburg Township District Library’s Environmental Fair.
